The Communications Intern works with the Communications Director to help advance
the HealthCare Institute of New Jersey’s communications agenda to the
media, the general public, elected officials, the business community and other
various audiences. If you want to learn about Corporate Communications, Government
Communications or Mass Media Communications, this internship is for you.

The Communications Intern will:
• Write and disseminate news releases, op-ed columns, e-communications,
speeches and talking points
• Assist with organizing media-relations events such as press briefings,
press conferences and/or media tours
• Compile and disseminate relevant news clips to staff
• Monitor websites and news sources for breaking news and developments
• Maintain media lists and contacts
• Be encouraged to attend HINJ Trustee, Steering Committee other committee
meetings
• Have broad exposure to the field of Corporate Communications as part
of a well-rounded internship experience

The ideal candidate will be a college undergraduate or graduate student with:
• A minimum grade point average of 3.00
• At least two years of college completed
• A proven ability to write
• Excellent verbal skills
• A writing sample and references
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
• An interest in public affairs
• Your own, reliable transportation
