The Government Relations Intern works with the Government Relations Director
on relevant state and federal policy issues which impact New Jersey’s
pharmaceutical and medical technology industry. If you want to learn about lobbying,
political science, health policy or government relations, this internship is
for you.

The Government Relations Intern will:
• Write relevant memos on policy and legislative matters
• Correspond with elected officials and government organizations
• Coordinate special events such as Congressional Health Care Forums,
Congressional Staff Tours, Chiefs of Staff Dinner, Capitol Hill and Trenton
briefings, and meetings of the HINJ Federal Legislative Affairs Committee
• Prepare and attend meetings with elected and agency officials &
staff, as necessary
• Be encouraged to attend Board of Trustee, Steering Committee other meetings
• Be provided with a broad exposure to the field of Government Relations
as part of a well-rounded internship experience

The ideal candidate will be a college undergraduate or graduate student with:
• An interest in lobbying, elected officials and the political process
• An interest in the issues impacting the pharmaceutical and medical technology
industry
• An interest in health care policy, particularly regarding Medicare,
Medicaid, the Food and Drug Administration, and relevant state departments which
regulate health matters.
• Strong communication skills and writing ability
• A self-starter and independent thinker mentality
• Your own, reliable transportation
